Catherine Pickering

Trained in London with Laura Wilson (Ballet) & Gillian Gregory (modern, Jazz & Tap). She also learnt the Graham technique at LCDS. After a dance career in musical theatre, films and 2 modern Dance companies Catherine set up her own school here in Colchester in 1989. Catherine has also taught Modern, Jazz, and Tap at clwdd & Surrey University and a number of vocational dance schools in London. She has choreographed dance pieces for schools, professional theatre companies, and special projects using lottery money. She has also taught tap & Contemporary dance at a number of international summer schools over the years.

Fanny Harniess

Born on Colchester, Fanny began her dance training at the age of nine at Bush Davies School in East Grinstead. She spent her professional career dancing in the theatre and opera productions and educational tours across the country.he began teaching in 1982 for the Essex Youth Theatre covering ballet, modern, general fitness and choreography. After gaining a degree in Literature from the University of Essex in 1988 she returned to the dance worked and tool the teaching course for professional dancer at the Royal Ballet School. Since graduating in 1990 Fanny taught for Suffolk Scholars Ballet Training Scheme, the Italia Conti Associate Scholars Ballet Training Scheme, the Italia Conti Associate School and ran her own school for two years. She is now delighted to teach ISTD Modern exams and Cecchetti Ballet for the Catherine Pickering School of dance.

Claire L Baker

I trained with the Harlow Ballet Club under the directorship of Leo Kersley and at the Central School of Ballet, London, Before opening my own school in Ilford in 2001. Three years on and I am now teaching for Catherine Pickering School of Dance. I am very much enjoy working with the children and hope to instill in them a real love of dance!

Deborah Mo

Debororah trained in Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre and National Dance following the ISTD syllabus up to the age of 17, then attending a MASTER School for dance and entertainment in Norwich, turning professional at 18 years. She spent the next 8 years working in top London hotels, touring Italy, Mexico and Switzerland, appearing alongside artists such as Duncan Norvelle, Showaddywaddy, Tom O’connor, Fankie Howard, etc, gaining full Equity membership. She later joined a world cruise company as lead dancer, performing solo and passed-deux including aerial lift work. Now with her own family, she continues in the dancing profession as a teacher of dance.
